Position Overview
The Team Lead is responsible for driving profitable sales growth by building and maintaining a high-performance sales team charged with acquiring new national/major coffee service accounts as well as increasing business among existing clients in accordance with the company’s strategic sales plan.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
- Directs the prospecting, acquisition, development, and retention of all CSD national/major accounts to meet or exceed CSD revenue and profit plans.
- Leads the activities of the CSD national account team, including but not limited to, conducting sales calls, national account setup, analyzing and controlling department expenditures, preparing sales reports, implementing process improvements, participating in trade shows, etc.
- Assists with the development of the 3-5 yr. strategic plan and the annual operating plan
- Responsible for building, developing, and retaining talent necessary to drive a high-performance team, along with ensuring succession planning in place
- Creates measures of success for sales team and ensures profitability and sustainability of accounts
- Analyzes performance and the on-going needs of current accounts to enable retention, and to enhance service level and profitability
- Lead/facilitates national customer meeting at all levels within customer organization to brainstorm and gain agreement on joint initiatives.
- In collaboration with Marketing, develops sales and marketing strategies to achieve volume, revenue, and EBITA goals.
- Analyzes industry/consumer trends, along with competitor activity and makes recommendations as needed to evolve CSD sales and marketing strategies, product offerings, or services provided
- Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure a shared and supported sales vision and alignment to strategic objectives
- Collaborates with Finance in completing post-program analysis and providing support documents for customer meetings.
- Maintains communication link with key supply chain personnel regarding account programming, pricing and strategy (both national and regional)
- Actively participates in full-cycle contract negotiations on behalf of the Company
- Creates and supports change-management solutions to further the Company’s growth
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Position Requirements
- High School diploma or Equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university preferred
- Minimum 5 years of relevant, progressive Food Service National Account experience within a Direct Store Delivery (DSD) and/or distribution environment required
- Experience within Ready to Drink (RTD) beverage preferred
- At least 2 years of successful team leadership experience required
- Proven track record of increasing sales and profitability
- Advanced contract negotiation skills and experience with landing high exposure accounts
- Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing effective sales strategies
- Experience in developing effective variable sales compensation plans
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and conduct executive business reviews and presentations

- Field Sales Environment- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be moderately loud in warehouse areas.
