JOB SUMMARY


Help facilitate and control the day-to-day operation of the refrigeration units for wine and juice temperature control. Through experience and training, the Refrigeration Operator will develop the knowledge to properly operate and troubleshoot minor issues with the systems. In the absence of the Working Foreman the Refrigeration Operator will be required to fill in and provide supervision of the day-to-day operation of the cellar. They will also help in the administration of company, department rules, regulation, and standard operating procedures. The operator will be held accountable in maintaining product integrity and creating safe an efficient production flow according to TWG protocols.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must be able to learn and understand detailed refrigeration process, monitor, and control the chiller and product temperatures.
  • Must be capable of completing all required paperwork correctly and keep accurate records.
  • Must possess and demonstrate leadership abilities and be able to work independently with minimal supervision; as well as prioritize, organize, motivate, and direct the work of others to accomplish the department’s mission.
  • Must be able to positively interact and communicate effectively with all personnel, vendors, contractors, co-workers, and management.
  • Must be able to comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions through changeovers and work order assignments.
  • Must possess the ability to analyze and resolve day-to-day work problems and to recognize and inform management of potential problems. Take initiatives to recommend to supervisor/management process, materials and/or operational improvements that reduce cost, waste and/or improve quality.


OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Must have ability to learn and effectively train others on all work processes in accordance to SOP and Safety Programs and hold other accountable as necessary.
  • In the case where foreman is absent, must be able to assign appropriate workloads and evaluate the quantity and quality of the work performed while ensuring the safety practices and policies are being followed.
  • Support and model all company procedures and policies
  • Must possess the ability to analyze and resolve day-to-day work problems and to recognize and inform management of potential problems. Take initiatives to recommend to supervisor/management process, materials and/or operational improvements that reduce cost, waste and/or improve quality.
  • Must enroll and successfully complete 40-hour refrigeration schooling through an outside entity approved by the employer.
  • At the end of the training period, employee must be able to evaluate, operate and troubleshoot all refrigeration equipment within operating standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years or older at time of hire.
  • Possess the ability to work in a fast pace environment under pressure.
  • Possess at least 3 years of experience working within a winery, knowledge of all operations, equipment process, and procedures of the department.
  • Must have a well-developed attention to detail.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and display integrity, character, and strong leadership skills
  • Possess the ability to learn and develop computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel.
  • Must have demonstrated above average work performance and ability and possess an excellent attendance and safety record.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to pass all applicable testing.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • After qualification, the company may require First Aid, CPR, AED, Emergency Responder and/or other certifications as necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift and carry weights of up to 55lbs at varying frequency and duration.
  • Must be able to repeatedly climb stairs/vertical tank ladders at heights of 60’ and higher, enter through manhole and perform all functions of the Operators classification with some refrigeration knowledge.
  • Work with hazardous chemicals and wear a face mask and appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, and pushing.
