Associate Product Manager

The Associate Product Manager works within the product delivery cycle to ensure successful delivery of value as well as coordinating broader strategy execution for a product / product area. They work closely with the product manager and product designer to plot the tactical details of the roadmap and ensure clear definition of new features and enhancements. They bring the perspective of the broader market and user context to the day-to-day work. They follow the agile software development process and work directly with a development team ensuring delivery of value, communicating progress, and eliciting feedback. They create user stories, develop acceptance criteria, and refine the backlog all with a user centric focus. Working closely with operations and product marketing, they ensure clear communication with client facing and go to market teams as product releases are made.


This position will be focused on our centralized Watermark Suite level functionality enabling leaders to manage, engage, and inspire progress for improving educational outcomes from a single suite.
  

Key Responsibilities

  • Use a range of techniques to understand your business domain and customer segment by talking to customers; Extract key insights for optimizing decision making

  • Maintain awareness of market and competitive landscape to inform decision making, gathering and sharing data as needed

  • Assist with development of product vision, goals, and roadmap for your product area taking into account user, business, technical needs, and fit in the broader product and portfolio

  • Act as a go to expert for the product area, using knowledge to solve well understood customer problems, investigate defects, and assist internal teams in their functionality related processes

  • Gather feedback from a variety of input channels including from clients, sales, support, and implementation teams on product in production and incorporate feedback into plans

  • Perform the role of product owner, participating in team level planning sessions, collaborating effectively, prioritizing a balanced business/technical needs backlog, and ensuring alignment with strategy

  • Engage development team to ensure legal, security, and privacy needs for your product are taken into account in the planning, design, and acceptance of product features and services

  • Liaison between stakeholders and other teams to ensure progress is well communicated before, during, and after a release and identified risks are mitigated

  • Create and/or review relevant product and feature documentation

  • Proactively communicate with support, client success, services, and sales / marketing enabling them with information and resources needed for success

  • Identify, track, and report on release and user metrics that inform product success and make informed decisions based on data to build a better product


Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years work experience in software development, product owner, business analyst role, or closely related role (experience in EdTech industry is a plus)

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Excellent ability to effectively prioritize and manage competing priorities

  • Ability to work in a changing, dynamic environment

  • Ability to work cooperatively across teams and departments

  • Excellent communicator interpersonally, within a team, and organizationally

  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail, while being results oriented

  • Experience working as part of the Agile software development team

  • Experience with business analysis, documenting use cases or requirements gathering

  • Preferred Scrum Product Owner certification
