Purpose:

The IT Analyst for IT Budgeting & Cost Management and Reporting & Analytics, IT Planning will report directly to the Manager of IT Planning. The primary purpose of this role is to work with Finance on budgeting and cost management expectations and translate that into actionable steps for IT; and to create reporting and analytics for spend/benefits throughout the IT organization.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Translates IT strategy into financial goals
  • Works with Finance on the budgeting and forecasting process for IT including:
    • Collaboration with IT managers & directors
    • Standard review package
    • Scheduling of events
    • OPEX spend vs. CAPEX
    • Works with finance on rolling forecast of spend based on flexible demand and other variable cost inputs
  • Works with other IT leaders on cost management efforts and tracking of spend
  • Provides guidance and training to the IT teams on purchase requisitions in collaboration with the Sourcing organization
  • Creates reporting and analytics for the IT organization for area
    • Creates and reports on SMART metrics/scorecard to measure results and indicators for future
    • Works with finance to develop a simple and sustainable method for allocation of enterprise cost to regions
    • Accumulates business value creation based on IT solution implementations (working with Global Business IT group)
    • Works with Service Catalog owner and service owners on developing a cost model with a business centric view
  • Contributes content to the overall knowledge management effort and works with Education consultant on learning path if required
  • Creates business continuity plan for area of responsibility
  • Work closely with IT peers across the enterprise to execute against the IT planning process with respectful and collaborative discussion, challenging the status quo to create value for the company
  • Be an active member of the IT Planning team
  • Practicing and advocating for Safety leadership at every opportunity
  • Displaying leadership for continuous quality and efficiency improvements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key Challenges:

  • This role is newly created role that will continue to evolve over time. It is a highly collaborative role that requires both internal and external agility, relationship management and attention to detail
  • Must have exceptional communication, analytical, and influence skills as the position regularly and significantly provides information and opportunities to all levels of the IT organization
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Must be able to translate finance-related needs to IT professionals
  • Must be able to influence and get work done through others in order to accomplish goals/tasks.
  • Geographic, language, and cultural differences will serve as obstacles to a truly global IT support processes.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT with exposure to budgeting, cost tracking and business case development
  • Basic proficiency in SAP as a user
  • Experience or exposure to the purchasing process through the purchase requisition process
  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with finance/IT stakeholders as appropriate
  • Comfortable using complex spreadsheets, VB/Excel macro programming and ad hoc reporting tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BS, BA, BBA or equivalent degree required
  • Fluency in English
